About Us

FOUNDED IN 2020.

In simplest terms, we are a local running club; however, we are also a group of community members looking to engage in community outreach in Long Beach and beyond. RPRC aims to provide an inclusive space for community members who’re looking to meet-up and run. Our weekly runs will also serve as a contact zone for people to come together and generate dialogue regarding current social issues both local and global.

OUR IDEALS

It should be made immediately clear that ROSE PARK RUNNING CLUB IS NOT APOLITICAL While individual members are sure to have varied, nuanced opinions and beliefs, RPRC is a left-leaning, progressive entity. Some topics we care about are class struggle, racial inequality within America, womens’ equality, LGBTQ+ liberation, abolishing ICE, gentrification, defunding the police, pro-choice, and more unique community problems specific to Long Beach.

We believe that within all these mentioned topics, injustice is being dealt to marginalized/underrepresented/oppressed members of the American population. As a result, our actions such as fundraising, community service/outreach, event coordination, etc. will all be undertaken with the intent of engaging those topics in an effort to fight for a more just treatment for all.

OUR MERCH

All profits from our merch projects will be then donated to causes/charities/non-profits, that at that specific time need financial contributions. RPRC IS NOT HERE TO MAKE MONEY. We are trying to promote solidarity and sense of community.

SPECIFICS

While the act of coming to the weekly meets does not mean you automatically agree with everything previously mentioned, it means you are aware of a common vein that runs through RPRC. If you find yourself unsure of your exact position on some of the matters listed, that is not a problem. We still encourage you to come out and join us in our run. In fact, we encourage you to come with questions so we can discuss the topics you are uncertain of in order to help you reach a more clearly outlined opinion on the matter. Conversation and consideration of others’ opinions and beliefs is crucial for us, as a community, as we strive for progress. Therefore, blatant, immediate, intolerance and dismissal of other peoples’ opinions/ideas/beliefs simply because they are not the same as yours (this is the definition of bigotry) will not be tolerated. Individuals expressing bigotry are expected by the RPRC to ask for forgiveness (by apologizing and taking accountability) or they will be rejected from participation in future events.

With this said, we have a ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY towards racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, xenophobic, hyper-nationalist, or bigoted behavior.
ROSE PARK RUNNING CLUB MEETUPS ARE NOT A SPACE FOR YOU.

You will not be welcome.
